Mom Life Poetry

Trapped inside No where to hide No where to go Life is so slow Or is it too fast? I don't know, I've lost track Myself is gone She's no where to be found Off in another land, adventure bound Existing for responsibility, is quite a harsh task Some time alone to find me, Is that too much to ask?

Sleep Training...the Necessary Evil?

So by the time you are a parent or maybe even while you are expecting, you have heard the term "sleep training" thrown around. If you look it up, you will find all kinds of advice on helping your baby to learn to fall asleep on his/her own, and the methods to do so. You'll probably also find a lot of arguments for and against sleep training. The first time I heard about it was from some friends who where sleep training their daughter. It sounded easy at first, establish a routine, read books and put baby to bed. I thought, yeah that's something we could try when the time comes and I back burner-ed it for the time being, only to forget about it when Draygen became of sleep training age. I go to Care Net to learn about child development from my mentor. We watch videos and one video we happened to watch (when my Husband attended the appointment with me) was on sleep training. Despite the fact that this video was incredibly dated, it did have some good advice on getti...

In a rut

Draygen was being camera shy...lol Baby and I seem to be in a rut. We are both bored these days with the same old toys, books and video songs. I have a lot of ideas for things to do when he's older but he's too young (10 months now) to do any of those things right now. So we end up doing the same old things. *sigh* Any ideas on what else to do?? I've looked up what to do with a 9/10 month old and I've basically already done them! Either that or they are short little things that don't occupy much time. I love my little boy so much and I want to be able to entertain him and enjoy it myself, but I'm find it increasingly difficult. Walks usually cure the boredom for a while for both of us and they take up time, which is great, but the weather has not cooperated lately. Last week we had several days of snow that stuck around and this week it's cold and rainy. To top all this off I'm battling a shoulder impingement injury...no fun and not easy when const...

Being A New Parent Equals Identity Theft?!

I miss this girl... Who knew that a little person who entered our lives 8 months and 9 days ago would also be a thief?! Not only has he stole our hearts but he has stolen or identity!  Please don't think I'm being cruel when I say this. It's partially in jest but also somewhat true, per the situation of new parents. I have not been feeling myself ever since Draygen was born, more so over the past few months, it's just gotten worse. There are days when I just don't care what the hell I look like when I get out of bed and minimal effort is put in after showering. I used to care more, I mean, I still do, but now it's like, what's the point?! I rarely go out, except the store and church and the rest of the time I'm home. I can't be creative with my hair because baby's always pulling it, so up it goes, can't wear jewelry cause he'll pull at that too, not EVEN gonna risk dangly earrings and clothes, well, might as well be comfy if I...

Emotionally and Physically Exhausted, Ah Heck! All of the Above!

Literally me this week It saddens me that I have not been able to keep up with this blog. My major honest mom excuse: "I'm not managing my mom life well."  There is SO much I want to say in this entry, so much on my mind and so much I don't even know will come out. I'm surprised I'm actually able to write this right now, but I tell you it is out of sheer exhaustion of my whole self to do so, so that I don't go completely nuts. I need to get stuff out.  I also was unable to keep up with my Honest New Mom video series on my Youtube channel. I made 11 videos, which is good but wanted to do more. At one point I got quite busy and said I'd settle for an even dozen and tell my viewers to catch up with me here instead. Ha! That never happened. Was a good plan though... So, it's 9:28 pm, Saturday night. Mr. Baby really did a number on me tonight. He fought sleep so much...SO much. It seems like every time his routine get's thrown off he has ...

Full Time Mommy

Whoever said being a stay at home mom is a full time job, is SO correct.       You are on 24-7 and though people always say, "Take a break!"        or tell you to get some rest, it's darn near impossible to do! I'd do anything for this face!      Yesterday was a particularly difficult day for Draygen. 6 months old, I am learning has its ups and downs. The Ups: New discoveries, better coordination, eating, sitting up, more laughing and talking to name a few. Downs: Teething, higher sensitivity to shots, fighting sleep, and overall just being a big cranky butt!  So yesterday I was at the hospital for an appointment for my mom. Draygen and I had a long wait and he began to grow weary and cranky. He is usually pretty laid back and well behaved out in public and spends a lot of time just being chill or sleeping in the stroller. Even though I let him get out and such, nothing was calming him or maki...

Feeling Unloved...

This is me and my emotions right now about this subject and as  silly or illogical as it may sound to anyone else.  I am hurt by other people and by my baby. First of all, I am not stupid. I realize my 5 month old son does not have the decision making skills in his brain to purposely seek out to hurt, manipulate or play favorites. I know this, I do.  I'm just having a really hard time lately with the fact that Draygen's new ability has been displayed upon everyone but me. In other words, he has learned to reach out to people that he wants, and he doesn't do that for me at all. He puts his arms out and get's excited when he sees his aunt and his daddy, and leans toward Grandma. I admit it's jealousy on my part...considering I'm the one who takes care of him the majority of the day and gets up with him at night. I feel like maybe I need to go away on my own for hours just to see if he likes me when I get back!
